Sabah PKR says Semporna, Tuaran divisions staying loyal despite chiefs quitting
KOTA KINABALU, May 24 — Semporna and Tuaran PKR divisions will continue to support the reform agenda despite the resignations of their respective chiefs, said PKR Sabah information chief Ahmad Farid Sainuri.
He said both divisions, now formally led in an acting capacity by their respective deputy chiefs, continue to champion the rights of the people of Sabah, particularly on the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and broader institutional reforms.
“Under the Madani Government, reforms under the MA63 have made their strongest progress yet, with 13 of the 29 demands resolved, nine of them during the current administration,” he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Farid said the government’s commitment is also reflected in the increase of Sabah’s interim special grant to RM600 million, as well as ongoing government-to-government talks on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement, which are now being actively pursued.
Meanwhile, he said that political exits and entries are part and parcel of a mature democratic system.
